Unlike traditional shower pan systems that require a field-built mortar bed, a cure period, and a separately applied waterproofing membrane, Tile Redi pans arrive factory-waterproofed and install over a single ½-inch layer of thinset. 1. Prep the subfloor Frame to your pan's dimensions, make sure the floor is level and walls are plumb and square, and sweep it clean.
2. Spread ½ inch of thinset That's it. One even layer of thinset mortar across the subfloor, the flat bottom pan sits right on top. No rib-filling, no mixed mortar beds, no guesswork.
3. Set the pan and connect the drain from above Lower the pan into place. The new compression drain installs entirely from the top, no crawling under the floor, no second set of hands needed to hold things in place.
4. Start tiling, often the same day Because the pan installs with only a thin thinset layer and requires no field-applied waterproofing membrane, many homeowners can begin setting wall and floor tile the same day. No cure window to sit through, no wondering if the waterproofing is right.
